Phi Phi island is a incredible looking tropical gropu of islands. The Phi Phi Islands are an island group in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the Straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. This island destination has long been a favourite with travellers because of the fabulous beaches, crystal clear waters and spectacular limestone landscapes. Scuba diving and snorkelling are the main attractions of the Phi Phi Islands, but the range of activities and accommodation has grown over the last few years.

Koh Phi Phi’s climate is tropical and warm throughout the year. The northeast monsoon from November into January is wonderful, with breezy clear days and fragrant cool nights. From February to May the breezes end, and the weather is at its best. From November to May, Phi Phi Island has 26 sunny days per month. The southwest monsoon, from late May to October, brings rain and winds to the west coast of southern Thailand, but there are still 20 sunny days per month. Most often it’s only a cool, late afternoon shower, but there can be rainy days on Koh Phi Phi. Seas can be quite rough during this season and swimmers should be careful.

For around 3000 Bhat travellers can purchase a 6-hour long-tailed boat tour, an excursion designed to take parties of four around the entirety of the blissful island. Tours make stops at Bamboo Island, Mosquito Island, Monkey Bay, Maya Bay and Tonsai Village for a few hours of shopping and swimming, and first-rate snorkelling gear is often provided. Ton Sai is a beach near Krabi in Thailand, offering a combination of inexpensive accommodation and great rock climbing routes that make it popular with both backpackers and climbers alike. Compared to neighbouring Raileh and Ao Nang it’s relatively rough around on the edges; in particular, the beach gets unsuitable for swimming and becomes quite rocky as the tide goes out. But this only happens for about ten days every moon period. The rest of the time the beach is suitable for swimming although not overly sanitary, take care and use antiseptic on all cuts.

While Phi Phi is no Koh Tao, there are still loads of stunning dive sites worth visiting. Choose your dive school wisely and make sure you’re 100% comfortable with the company. All the dive schools in Koh Phi Phi have a standardized price so you don’t have to worry about finding the most affordable dive school. In Koh Phi Phi, expect to see lots of macro dive sites, turtles, and reef sharks. The dive sites in Koh Phi Phi Ley are frequented spots by divers due to the plentiful marine life. If you want to venture a bit further, Hin Daeng and Hin Muang are two of my favorite dive spots in Thailand.

Maya Bay won fame through the filming of The Beach, where it provided the breathtaking backdrop for Leonardo DiCaprio to explore the island. It’s easy to understand why this bay became so popular: craggy cliffs plunging dramatically into the turquoise water, and with no accommodation anywhere in the area, a serene and peaceful atmosphere all around. Well, that’s how it used to be, before thousands of tourists every day came and ruined it, leaving all kind of trash behind and creating severe environmental damage, with multiple species of marine wildlife leaving the area.
