Sequoia Slentz or the growth of a creative marketing professional

Who is Sequoia Slentz and some of his creative marketing opinions? Even with his busy coast-to-coast touring schedule, Slentz said he still makes time to do local bookings. It is Cleanbox who introduced bands likes Henheart and Ryan Crosby to the Piper, and Alice Wallace and the Greatest Cover Band Ever to Ocean Avenue Brewery. “You never know when all of this will end,” he said. “I know I’ll always have a place at the Piper and in Laguna.” Slentz is married to his high-school sweetheart, Leslie Christen Slentz. The couple lives in Dana Point with their 3-year-old son, Micah. Cleanbox will host its fifth concert with the Fab Faux on Saturday at Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. The Beatles Tribute band was founded by the bassist for the Late Show with David Letterman, Will Lee, and also features Late Night with Conan O’Brien guitarist Jimmy Vivino and drummer Rich Pagano. The band will be accompanied by the Hogshead Horns and Creme Tangerine Strings of Saturday Night Live.

Sequoia Slentz profile in 944 Magazine : Although the world CleanBox inhabits is a far cry from the glossy photo spreads of beautiful people getting their rocks off that fill the mag’s pages, the recognition is still appreciated. Even though we despise the types of people who are into the magazine: the Armani and cologne wearing set, the bitchy, fake-titted chicks who won’t give us the time of day, we are ready and willing to accept all publicity. Plus, Sequoia and I got some free tequila at the photo shoot. Nothing beats a semi-solid excuse to drink hard liquor at noon.

Sequoia Slentz creative marketing advices: Go into each show with a scripted game plan. Even a simple a simple agenda can be something that your crew follows, but a detailed run of show document that maps out the show flow is the best document to use. Your plan should also include set-up diagrams that shows signal flow; floor plans that shows the room layout and location of AV, cameras, lighting, catering; and, any other documents like webcast information, call sheets, production schedules and checklists for both the crew and clients to follow. The more you know, the better the you do… and the best way to know is to practice. Aside from presenters being able practice clicking through their slides and getting comfortable with the environment, you need to know their transitions, cues for videos, music, camera angles and blocking, along with how the show will open and close.

Sequoia Slentz on Covid-19 times and the entertainment industry : What are the risks/effects of musicians leaving their industry (even if the intention is only temporary)? Leaving the music industry temporarily can mean that an artist will potentially lose their craft and passion. Even if you have another job, it is imperative to practice music and write songs to stay sharp. Having another job to support one’s career is great, but artists need to keep their technical skills up to par by practicing daily. What are some creative ways to stay in the music industry but still make ends meet? Getting a job working for another artist is a good way to learn the business. Knowing what strategy works for that artist and learning from their mistakes can help one’s own career. However, keep in mind that what works for them might not work for your artist brand.
