Some tricks to correctly ride the stand up inflatable paddle board. Rinse your SUP before putting it in storage. Whenever you use your SUP you’ll want to rinse it with freshwater afterwards. It’s good to get into the habit of rinsing off your board after each use because getting rid of dirt and grit can extend its lifespan. It also prevents you from having to clean your board before you head out next time. SUP is an outdoor sport so a certain amount of mud is expected, but with a good spray down after each time out you’ll keep your paddle board in action over the long-term. Pay special attention to the area around your valve to keep it clean and working smoothly.
A good place to start is to figure out the dimensions of an inflatable SUP you’ve tried that felt good and was easy for you. Use that as a baseline of what you know you can paddle. This should give you an idea if the board was way too stable or not stable enough, then you can make judgments based off that. Demo or renting is the best way to get an idea about what type of board you want and also as great way to gauge what size you can handle. A very common size inflatable SUP for an average 180lb male who is intermediate would look something like 10′ x 32? x 220L (Like the Pakaloa SUP) and a very common size inflatable SUP for an average 125lb female would be 9’6? x 31? x 196L.
Cardio workout: When you begin paddle boarding, you probably won’t get much of a cardio workout, but as you increase in strength and start to paddle harder, you will soon give yourself a good aerobic workout. It’s important to give the body this type of workout as it helps increase your heart rate and improves oxygen flow around the body. As you breathe deeper, you take in more oxygen to your lungs and your cardiovascular systems gets stronger too. Simple paddling will give you a cardio workout, but paddling harder will give you a better one. Surfing and racing are two SUP activities will which really get the heart working. If you don’t want to do these, just paddle faster or have a short race with one of your friends.

These are the strongest muscles of your body and provide the most effective power for your paddle stroke.
